Alloy A286 (AMS 5731/ AMS 5732 / AMS 5737 / AMS 5525) is a iron-nickel-chromium based, austenitic superalloy with additions of molybdenum and titanium. It is one of the most popular high temperature alloys. As one of the austenitic alloys it maintains good strength and oxidation resistance at temperatures up to 1300ºF (704˚C). It is available in various forms such as Coil, Sheet, Bars, Pipes, Tubes, Fasteners, Plates, Bolts etc.
Common Trade Names include Incoloy Alloy A286 (® Special Metals), Pyromet Alloy A-286 (® Carpenter Technology), ATI A286 (™ Allegheny Technologies). They have outstanding physical properties for Solution Treated such as Density 0.286 lb./in3 (7.92 g/cm3), Specific Gravity as 7.92, Melting Point as 2500 - 2600 °F, Magnetic Permeability as 1.010, then physical properties for Solution Treated and Aged such as Density 0.287 lb./in3 (7.94 g/cm3), Specific Gravity as 7.94, Melting Point as 1370 - 1430 °C, Magnetic Permeability as 1.007.
